- Place bacon strips in a cold cast-iron skillet over medium heat and cook until crispy, then remove to a paper towel.
- Divide the cold ground beef into four equal portions, shape into loose rounds, and press a dimple into the center of each.
- Season the beef generously with salt and pepper, then sear in the hot skillet for three minutes undisturbed.
- Flip the burgers, immediately top with cheddar cheese, cover the pan to melt the cheese, and cook for two more minutes.
- Assemble the burgers by placing the lettuce, tomato, glazed patty, and crispy bacon onto the toasted buns.
