- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and melt the butter directly in a 9x13 baking dish.
- Toss the pitted cherries with half a cup of sugar in a bowl until juices form.
- Whisk the flour, remaining sugar, milk, and baking powder in a separate bowl until just combined.
- Pour the batter directly over the melted butter in the baking dish without stirring.
- Spoon the sugared cherries evenly over the top of the batter without mixing the layers.
- Bake for 40 to 45 minutes until the top is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.
