Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups buttermilk Room temperature

Method
 

  1. Preheat your waffle iron to medium-high heat until the ready indicator light turns on.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, granulated sugar, and salt.

  3. In a separate medium bowl, beat the buttermilk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until completely smooth.

  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently fold with a spatula until just combined. A few lumps are okay.
  5. Sprinkle the chocolate chips into the batter and fold gently two or three times to distribute evenly.
  6. Pour batter onto the center of the hot iron and close the lid gently. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown and steam stops escaping.

  7. Carefully lift from the iron and serve immediately with sliced bananas and warm maple syrup.
