Method
- Place the fresh mint leaves and simple syrup in the bottom of a rocks glass.
- Press the leaves gently with a muddler just until you smell the mint.
- Pour the bourbon directly over the muddled mint and stir briefly.
- Fill the glass completely to the top edge with crushed ice.
- Stir vigorously from the bottom up until the outside of the glass is frosted.
- Slap a mint sprig against your hand and nestle it next to a short straw to serve.

Notes
Serve immediately while the glass is frosted. Do not attempt to store leftover mixed cocktails as the ice will melt and dilute the drink.
