Ingredients
  

  • 2 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled and diced Or any firm, tart apple
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed Thaw in the refrigerator
  • ¼ cup brown sugar Packed
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg Beaten with 1 tablespoon water for egg wash

  • 1 Rolling Pin To smooth the pastry

Method
 

  1. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat, then add the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  2. Cook until the apples are tender-crisp and the liquid has mostly evaporated, then let the mixture cool completely.

  3. Unfold the puff pastry onto parchment paper and lightly roll it to smooth the seams.

  4. Spoon the cooled apple filling down the center third of the pastry, then fold the sides over and seal the edges.

  5. Brush with egg wash, cut small slits in the top for venting, and bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

Notes
