Ingredients
  

  • 2 beef filet mignon steaks About two inches thick
  • ½ pound jumbo shrimp Peeled and deveined
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter Divided use
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic Minced finely
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For searing
  • coarse salt and black pepper To taste

Equipment

  • 1 heavy skillet Cast iron works best
  • 1 meat thermometer For accurate steak doneness
  • 1 Tongs For flipping steaks

Method
 

  1. Pat the steaks and shrimp completely dry, then season the beef generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat oil in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat and sear the steaks until a dark crust forms.

  3. Transfer the steaks to a warm plate, cover loosely with foil, and let them rest.

  4. Melt butter in the skillet, add garlic and shrimp, and cook until opaque.

  5. Spoon the garlic butter sauce over the shrimp and serve immediately over the rested steaks.
