Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C) and trim the fat cap on the meat to an even quarter-inch thickness.

  2. Combine the brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl, then rub aggressively over the entire surface of the meat.

  3. Place the seasoned meat into a heavy roasting pan and pour the beef broth and apple cider vinegar around the base.
  4. Cover the pan tightly with heavy-duty aluminum foil and bake for 3.5 to 4 hours until fork-tender.
  5. Remove the foil, brush the top generously with BBQ sauce, and return to the oven uncovered for 45 minutes to caramelize.
