- Whisk the melted butter and sugar together until completely smooth.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract, stirring vigorously until glossy.
- Fold in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt just until no white streaks remain.
- Spread the thick batter evenly onto a parchment-lined baking sheet using an offset spatula.
- Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for ten to twelve minutes until the edges are set.
- Let the baked layer cool completely, then cut it exactly in half crosswise.
- Spread the softened filling thickly over one half, topping gently with the second half.
- Wrap tightly in plastic and freeze for at least four hours before slicing into bars.
