Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, washed and chopped Reserve a few whole berries for garnish
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar Divided use for berries and cream
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream Must be very cold
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Adds deep flavor
  • 1 loaf sponge cake or pound cake Store bought or homemade

Equipment

  • 2 Mixing Bowl For berries and cream
  • 1 hand mixer To whip the heavy cream
  • 4 small glasses For assembling the desserts
  • 1 knife To cut the cake and berries

Method
 

  1. Wash and dice the strawberries, then toss them with two tablespoons of sugar in a bowl.
  2. Whip the heavy cream with the remaining sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.

  3. Cut the sponge cake into small rounds or cubes to fit your serving glasses.

  4. Layer the cake, syrupy berries, and whipped cream inside each glass.
