Ingredients

  • 1 can canned sliced peaches in heavy syrup (29 ounces), undrained Do not drain the liquid
  • 1 can canned sliced peaches (29 ounces), fully drained Drain this can to prevent a soggy bottom
  • 1 box yellow cake mix (15.25 ounces) Do not follow the instructions on the box
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, cut into very thin squares Keep cold for easier slicing

Equipment

  • 1 9x13 inch baking dish Glass or ceramic preferred
  • 1 knife To slice the cold butter
  • 1 Can opener To open the peaches
  • 1 Spatula To spread the fruit evenly

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.

  2. Pour both the undrained can and the drained can of peaches into the baking dish, spreading them into an even layer.
  3. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the top of the peaches, patting it down gently to create a flat surface.

Notes

If you see dry spots of cake mix toward the end of baking, simply drop a small, thin slice of butter directly onto the dry area and let it finish baking. Do not stir the ingredients at any point.
